Dr. Paul is a Board Certified Psychiatrist specializing in general outpatient and forensic psychiatry, and a Licensed Attorney.
Dr. Paul began her career by receiving her Bachelor’s of Science in Social Work from Nebraska Wesleyan University. She then worked as a Juvenile probation officer for the Third District Juvenile Court in Salt Lake City, Utah. She subsequently earned her JD from the University of Utah College of Law, and became a member of the Utah Bar in 1997. She served as Associate Professor of English and Political Science at Salt Lake Community College.
Dr. Paul earned her medical degree from Creighton University Medical School in 2009. She went on to complete her Psychiatry Residency in the University of Nebraska/Creighton University Combined program. During residency she worked in a specialty clinic providing services to pregnant and post partum women with various psychiatric needs.
Dr. Paul was employed as a Psychiatrist for Lutheran Family Services and Community Alliance Homeless Clinic. She became a Board Certified Psychiatrist in 2013. Dr. Paul worked at Inroads to Recovery, providing outpatient psychiatric and chemical dependency services, including Suboxone induction and maintenance.
Currently, Dr. Paul is a clinical instructor at both the University of Nebraska Medial School, and Creighton University Medical School. She is currently the course director of Forensic Psychiatry in the combined Psychiatry residency program.
Dr. Paul continues to combine her love of medicine and the law in her forensic psychiatry practice. She has conducted multiple forensic psychiatric examinations, including competency to stand trial, insanity defense, post mortem wills, various legal issues related to addiction, and guardianship of mentally ill adults.
Dr. Paul is currently a contracting psychiatrist at the Coeur Group.
